Kanza was bred for durability in a cold climate. Known for its high productivity, this cultivar produces bountiful harvests of smaller pecans. Kanza matures in late September making harvest very early. It is a round nut that shells easily and has a wonderful flavor. Kanza has excellent scab resistance, and also exhibits good resistance to other pests and leaf diseases such as powdery mildew. Plant Kanza instead of Elliott in colder areas above USDA Zone 8. Nuts are almost identical.
