Wickson is considered to be a sweet crabapple. It was originally bred for cider, but it is excellent for fresh eating. The skin is red and the crisp, yellow-fleshed, golf ball-sized apples pack a lot of flavor into a small package. It has extraordinary sweetness, 25% sugar, and a pronounced acid tang. Production is very heavy. Late fruit drop is great for wildlife.
