Yates dates from around 1844 in Fayette County, Georgia. It is a red apple with white flesh that is tender, juicy, aromatic and sub-acid. Flavor is sweet and tart with a spicy tang. Yates will keep 4 to 5 months under refrigeration. Used as both a fresh eating and a cider apple. It is very disease resistant and a good pollinator. Well adapted to the heat and humidity of the South.
